Trust: Faith Like Job
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. PROVERBS 3:5–6
She had to fight for it sometimes, but she was determined to walk by faith. She wanted to trust God with everything in her. It had been a journey for sure. But He had shown Himself faithful again and again. The wonderful thing about trusting Him was that He would always lead her to exactly where she needed to be.
A lot of people can relate to Job during different seasons of their lives. Not that any of us has ever experienced the measure of loss that he did, from losing every one of his children to his entire income source and his health, while his friends accused him of displeasing God. But most of us have had a series of troubles that have seemed to build on each other. There comes a point where we think we won’t be able to handle any more . . . and then the next trouble comes. The tension builds. The pain increases. We’re faced with a crossroads moment when we’ll either give up and try to fix things on our own or run hard toward Jesus. The only answer is His truth. Job gives such a good example of this. He may have wished he’d never been born, but he never turned away from God. In the end, he was rewarded for his trust that would not die. May we all do the same when we’re faced with one trial after another.
God,
sometimes my heart feels overwhelmed with all the concerns that I have. But I know Your Word says not to lean on my own understanding, but in all my ways to acknowledge You and You shall direct my path. Today I’m asking that You direct each one of my footsteps and make me aware of Your presence. I trust that as You go before me, I can take delight in knowing that You will give me the desires of my heart.
In Jesus’s name, Amen.
