Motivation–Finding Your "It"

DAY 2 OF 4

Unlock Your Potential

How do we find our “it” and unlock our potential? This is something that, as a leader, I have asked myself many times. Not only about myself, but also about those around me. Over my time as a leader and an entrepreneur, I have come across many people who were ultimately good workers. They had talent, charisma, and were intelligent, but could not reach what they felt was their potential. They had not yet found their “it” and were unable to understand where it was that God wanted to place them.

In my opinion, finding your “it” and unlocking your potential takes an open heart and ear for the Lord as well as the willingness to look inside yourself and acknowledge your strengths and your shortcomings. When I was in my early twenties, I began working for a company, doing electrical work. For those who know me, they know that this is definitely not my forte or my "it" by any means. But I was young and in need of some income to support my wife and newborn daughter, so I took the job. I rarely showed up and was very slow and uninterested in what I was doing. I am not a lazy person when it comes to hard work, but this job was not fulfilling for me. It did not motivate me any more than simply collecting a paycheck. The saying that those who enjoy their work do not “work” a day in their life proves to be true. This was not where I was going to be the most effective or helpful. The Lord had blessed me with other skills and traits that I needed to take a look at, analyze, and figure out how to utilize.

You see, using your “it” to make you happy is not selfish. God wants you to be happy and to work diligently at what it is that you wish to work at. Again, it is up to you to choose to do so. It takes some soul searching and some critical thinking, but if it worked for me, then I believe it will work for you as well.
What are your skills and how can you apply them to your “it”?

About this Plan

Motivation–Finding Your "It"

One of the many beautiful things in life is the fact that God made every individual on Earth in his image, yet also managed to make sure that no two people are exactly alike. God has given you a unique purpose, which I like to refer to as your “it.” In this plan, we will go over this concept of finding your “it” and using it to benefit the world.
