The Same Spirit: Living the Vibrant Holy Spirit-Filled Life

DAY 3 OF 5

Overcoming in the Same Spirit

God’s glory shines when believers walk by faith and overcome in His Spirit! Without salvation, nothing else matters. This is not my opinion, but God’s Word; we are born sinners, the result of the original disobedience of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Because of our sin nature, the inevitable result is eternal death, perpetual hell, and permanent separation from almighty God. But—and thank you, Lord, for that three-letter contrarian conjunction but—God’s gift of His only Son grants us eternal life.

Even before God sent His Son to die on the cross for our salvation, saving His people was always His plan. The Old Testament shows our heavenly Father saving Joseph after his brothers’ betrayal, rescuing the Hebrew nation from Egyptian captivity, and delivering Elijah from Jezebel, Daniel from the lions, and the Hebrew boys from a fiery furnace.

God sent His beloved Son to live, die, and defeat death once and for all, liberating us from our sins and securing for us the power of His Spirit within us. This is the Gospel definition of salvation, which Paul succinctly expresses: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23 niv).

When the Holy Spirit dwells in us—the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead—we experience not only resurrection power but redemption power. We discover that we are no longer bound by the darkness because we are now illuminated from within by heavenly light. We are no longer enslaved by destructive habits because we have been set free from the power of sin over us. We are no longer limited to what we can do in our own power because now we have Christ’s power to overcome death.

When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, the only option is to overcome. Wherever you look, you will see victory. Victory to defeat the evil one, conquer disobedience, and triumph over the things that once held us captive. “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4).

Dear God, forgive me for the times I have lost sight of Your promises and focused on my problems instead. Thank You for going before me and making a way for me. I give You thanks and praise for the victory I have in Christ and the free gift of salvation through His sacrifice on the cross. As I become more attuned to the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead within me, give me ears to hear, Lord, and open the eyes of my heart so that I can find victory everywhere I go. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Same Spirit: Living the Vibrant Holy Spirit-Filled Life

The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead is dwelling in you (see Romans 8:11 NLT). When our hearts are ignited by the presence of the Holy Spirit, we will live in the fulfillment of the peace, purpose, and power God provides, and we will become a conduit of healing power, transforming love, and unfathomable grace.
