DAY 6 OF 10

THE WAY TO FREEDOM (MODULE 3)

PROTECT THE HOUSE (PART A) - OUR EMOTIONS

Now that we have shut the entry points to our house, it's time to protect the house from any demonic spirit that wants to get in. The Bible identifies 16 root spirits that we will look at over the next 3 days. These 16 root spirits can be split into 3 different categories: EMOTIONAL, PHYSICAL and MENTAL as these are the primary ways that the enemy attacks us, through our emotions, our body and our mind. The reason why we utilize the term ‘root spirit’ is because a tree is a great illustration of how these spirits work.

If we were to look at an apple tree, we all know that the fruit it will bear is apples. If you decide to pick off the apples, cut away the leaves and even saw off the branches, the apple tree will still eventually produce more apples. The only way to stop this tree from producing this fruit is to deal with it from the root and remove it. In the same way, these root spirits bear fruit. For example, you might be dealing with lustful thoughts, anxiety, negativity or anger, but these are all fruits of a deeper root. And despite your best attempt to ‘deal’ with this fruit, it just keeps coming back. The only way to address this ‘fruit’ in your life, is to get to the root of the problem.

The process that we will use to deal with these root spirits is as follows:

READ: Each root spirit will come with a number of examples of things you may be dealing with.

REFLECT: Think about which root spirits you have been dealing with in your life.

RENOUNCE: Pray a prayer of repentance to God and renouncement of sin. This is where we break the power of sin over our lives.

It's important to note that as you go through each root spirit; not everything we go through is demonic. For example, when it comes to sickness and illness, some of it can be a result of a practical decision like a broken bone from playing sport or getting the flu from a change in weather. Other sicknesses and illnesses may be random and unfortunate. However, it is always important to approach everything with prayer and with faith. These lists are also not suggesting that you are demon-possessed, but rather recognizing that some of these ‘symptoms’ may be linked to something deeper. We encourage you to not read these lists with judgment but to allow the Holy Spirit to convict, challenge and encourage us as He so chooses.

ROOT SPIRIT 1 – FEAR:

Fright – Nightmares - Fear of death – Faithlessness - Timidity – Shyness - Inferiority – Paranoia - Inadequacy - Worry - Critical Spirit - Fear of failure - Fear of man – Fear of poverty - Fear of rejection - Torment - Lack of trust – Phobias - Abandonment - Fear of pain - Fear of abuse - Insanity - Fear of authority – Anxiety.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” - 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 1 – FEAR:

Dear God, I come to You in Jesus' Name. I realize that fear and anxiety are not from You. Forgive me for not trusting You. Satan, I demand you release me from the stronghold of Fear. As it says in 2 Timothy, I know that God has not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. Fear is from Satan, so in the Name of Jesus, I demand freedom from all fear. You will no longer rob me of my peace in God. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.

ROOT SPIRIT 2 - DESPAIR:

Depression - Perpetual sadness - Perpetual grief - Heaviness - Hopelessness - Loneliness – Discouragement - Rejection - Self-pity - Gloominess - Wounded spirit - Unjustified guilt - Broken spirit - Shame - Humiliation – Whining.

“The oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. " - Isaiah 61:3 NIV

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 2 – DESPAIR:

Dear God, I come to you in Jesus' Name. I have allowed rejection, self-pity and guilt to rob me of the joy of the Lord. I ask that you forgive anyone who's caused me pain. Satan, I demand that you release me from the stronghold of heaviness. As it says in Isaiah 61: I ask God, that you would give me beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and the garment of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness. In the Name of Jesus, I demand freedom from all heaviness and despair. Now that I have forgiven others and myself, Satan no longer has a legal right in my life. Thank you for setting me free from despair, in Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.

ROOT SPIRIT 3 - JEALOUSY:

Envy - Anger - Wrath - Covetousness – Over-competitive - Unforgiveness - Hardhearted - Self-loathing - Divisive - Violence - Divorce - Cruelty – Rage - Murder - Revenge – Hate.

“if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him, and he becomes jealous of his wife, who has defiled herself."
- Numbers 5:14 NKJV

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 3 - JEALOUSY:

Dear God, I come to you in Jesus' Name. I acknowledge that I have allowed jealousy into my life and I ask for your forgiveness. Satan, I demand that you release me from the stronghold of jealousy. As it says in Galatians 5, anyone who has jealousy in their life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Jealousy is a work of the flesh and therefore from Satan. So, in Jesus' Name, I break all spirits of jealousy and instead replace it with the fruit of the Spirit. I thank you for releasing love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control into my life in Jesus' Name, I pray, Amen.

ROOT SPIRIT 4 - BONDAGE:

Sexual Immorality - Idolatry - Elitism - Cigarettes – Alcohol- Drugs - Bulimia - Anorexia - Superiority – Workaholism – Pornography - Soul ties - Obsessions - Food addictions - Technology addictions - Sex addictions - Emotional ties – Dependence.

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” - Romans 8:15 NKJV

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 4 - BONDAGE:

Dear God, I come to you in Jesus’ Name realizing that only You can set me free from the bondage of Satan. Satan has promised me so much and delivered only slavery to sin. Forgive me and restore me back to Yourself. Satan, I demand you release me from the stronghold of bondage. As it says in Galatians 5 it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Christ has freed me, and the devil has no legal right over my life. In the Name of Jesus, I now break all the chains of bondage in my life including soul ties I have made (name the people that you have sexual and emotional soul ties with). Thank You, Lord, for this freedom. Help me grow in my love for you so that I never get entangled in bondage again. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Day 5Day 7

About this Plan

Freedom

Jesus didn’t die just so you could get a free ticket into heaven, He died to set you free on this side of eternity. Over the next 10 days we will go on a life-changing journey as we discover the enemy’s strategy to keep us trapped in the cycles of sin and learn the tools that we have been given to step into a life of FREEDOM.
