Beholding

DAY 6 OF 7

God as the beholder

God often invited His people to be the beholders of something He had created or had given to His people to demonstrate His love for us all. The most precious gift of course is to behold the gift of God’s son Jesus and to allow that gift to transform our lives.

However, there are other moments in the Bible where we see God beholding us. Here in the very beginning, just after breathing life into humanity, God took time to truly see and love the first people. God’s words as He saw and loved the man and woman was a recognition of goodness.

I recently had a wonderful conversation with another woman as we were both getting our hair done. This woman has spent time mentoring teenage girls into their adult years. She had experienced some sense of being unseen when she was a young woman and realised what a formative gift it is to see others and speak with them about the good she sees in them.

I think the Genesis verse is an invitation for us to both enjoy knowing that God sees us, loves us and beholds the good in us, while also joining God in beholding others with His love and calling out the good in others.

As we go through our day, let’s choose to thank God for the loving way He sees the good in us, and let’s also notice the good in someone else and affirm them.

About this Plan

Beholding

Have you ever found yourself sitting quietly and observing something beautiful in nature? Maybe the crashing ocean waves, a bright yellow flower or a laughing child? We can’t physically see God Himself but follow along with this plan to learn some different ways that you can experience Him in the everyday.
