Speak Well: Learning the Language of God

DAY 4 OF 7

Day 4: Dreams and Visions

Devotional:

I have always been a dreamer. Growing up, I would have these insane dreams, but I was always told that it was due to my vast imagination. As I got older, the dreams intensified. However, I never thought they meant anything and honestly wished they would go away.

I began to google “cures” for dreams and nightmares. I tried changing my diet, fasting after a certain time at night, and minimizing my screentime but nothing worked. Eventually, I had to chat with the Lord to find some resolve.

Through my conversations with God, He gave me instruction and revelation. God challenged me to document my dreams in a journal and seal every entry in prayer. Through this exercise, He started to reveal to me the meanings behind the dreams that I had. As my relationship with God grew, I started to see these dreams manifest in real time. I even began to see visions in my “daydreams.” While not all dreams come from God, I think it is important to recognize that God still uses this realm to speak.

Scripture Breakdown:

The Bible speaks about visions and dreams given to ordinary people that shook the Earth. Specifically in Genesis 41:1-37 Pharaoh had a dream, and he was unsure what to think of it. This led him to call on Joseph. Joseph provided the interpretation and instruction from God.

A lesson we can take from this story is that God never gives us empty visions. He always moves with intention. What He allows us to see, He instructs us to use. Find confidence in knowing that God has an assignment that He has entrusted you with that only you can fulfill.

Vision and obedience are your portions. Speak Well.
