Finding Faith

DAY 2 OF 3

Find Faith In God's Promises

When we seek help from someone we can trust, our confidence in them naturally leads us to believe in what they have to say. Similarly, when we have confidence in God, we ought to believe His Word and His promises. So, finding faith means trusting God and trusting His Word.

Hebrews 11 recounts the stories of the Heroes of Faith who believed in God and His promises.

Sarah, Abraham’s wife, trusted in God and His promise. She conceived in her old age because she “considered Him faithful who has made the promise”. God rewarded her faith, and she bore a son.

Abraham, also exemplifying faith, obeyed God and offered his only son as a sacrifice, trusting in God’s promise that his descendants would come from Isaac. God rewarded Abraham’s faith and spared his son.

There are other heroes of faith mentioned in Hebrews 11 - Abel, Noah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Samson, and David. All of them believed in God’s promises and witnessed the reward for their belief.

Hebrews 11 also mentions unnamed heroes who were commended for their faith. They were tortured, abused, stoned, sawed in two, and murdered. None of them saw the fulfillment of God’s promises, and yet they were commended for their faith because they still believed in God and His Word. They knew that God unfailingly fulfills His promises to believers, whether immediately or ultimately.

Today, do we believe in God’s promises? If we have confidence in God, we ought to have confidence in His Word.

Prayer: Lord, help me trust you and your Word. Help me persevere in holding onto Your promises and remaining steadfast in my faith. May I echo the “Amen” through Christ, bringing glory to You. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
