Understanding the Power of the Communion Table

DAY 4 OF 31

THE COMMUNION: A KEY PILLAR TO A VICTORIOUS CHRISTIAN LIVING

The Communion or the act of breaking bread is a key pillar for a victorious Christian life. This is one of the activities that should regularly take place in a Bible-believing Church. When I was a young and growing Christian, one of the things that gripped my mind was the breaking of bread. I did not understand the doctrinal aspects or the revelation of the breaking of bread until a friend enlightened me. My friend constantly broke bread over different issues in his life, and I saw the Lord solve problems and issues that he broke bread over, no matter what the case was. It had become a practice for him.

In my parents’ church, you had to go through a process known as “confirmation” before you could partake in Communion. Different churches have their procedures, but every Christian should understand that the Holy Communion is a special practice. People in this generation have put a lot of embellishments on the Bible's teaching on the Communion, but that doesn’t diminish its power.

I continued the practice of breaking bread over issues even after I got married. My wife and I always break bread when we find ourselves in a tight spot over issues, and God always comes through. The quality of the bread or wine makes no difference. There were times that I used some leftover biscuits and water as Holy Communion elements, and it worked.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You reveal to me the power in the breaking of bread this day. I will enjoy a victorious Christian living in Jesus' name. Amen!

About this Plan

Understanding the Power of the Communion Table

When Jesus was about to leave the world, one of the many commands he left with the believer was the Holy Communion: “Do this in remembrance of me.” Partaking of the communion table biblically makes tremendous power of God available to you, such that sickness, problems, death, and the devil will flee away. In this 31-day devotional, you will learn how to harness the power of the communion table.
