Not Okay

DAY 15 OF 28

Do you know any good riddles? There's just something about solving a complex riddle that can boost our confidence a bit. We're motivated by that feeling to put all our energy into figuring out the answer, but searching for that answer can be stressful. There are so many things motivating us to act and live the way we do. With the right motivation, we can do almost anything.

In today's reading, you'll explore the story of a man known as King Herod, who was motivated by all of the wrong things — he wanted to prove himself and protect his status. So, when asked to do something terrible, he gave in to those motivations even when they harmed others. What Herod needed here was integrity. In private, he liked John and enjoyed visiting him when he was in prison. Yet, in public, Herod wanted to assert himself over John and use his power so others didn't think he was weak. Herod needed help doing the right thing in every situation.

Doing the right thing isn't always easy, but no matter how difficult it is, God invites us to be people of integrity and to do the right thing in every situation. Whenever you are in a difficult situation, you can look to God to give you the strength you need to make the right decision and to live with integrity. You might feel stress when you have to make a tough decision, but God will remind you when it's not easy to do what's right, it's still worth it.

About this Plan

Not Okay

We'll look at four major stressors we all deal with and see how God's words can give us comfort, guidance, and help with each of them. We'll talk about what Jesus offers you when you're not okay, what God wants you to know when people reject you, what to do when it's not easy to do what's right, and when we feel worried, we'll see what God has to say.
