4 Lies About Money the World Wants You to Believe (And the Biblical Truth)

DAY 1 OF 4

The world around us has no shortage of lies they want us to believe regarding money. But today we will begin tearing them down one by one with God’s word.

As we explore each of these, take a few minutes to examine whether any of the lies have taken root in your heart. If so, meditate on these scriptures and prayerfully ask God to replace the lie with the truth of His word.

The world’s lie: “Your money is yours so do whatever makes you happy with it.”

The Truth: Everything we have is all God’s, we are simply managers of what He has entrusted to us.

You might be thinking, "I worked hard for my money. Isn't it mine?"

Psalm 24:1 provides a quick and succinct answer, "The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it." Everything we have, including our money, ultimately belongs to God. We're just simply the managers.

And Matthew 25:14-30 expands on this concept of us being the managers. In this story, a master entrusts his servants with his wealth and then goes on a journey. When he returns, he expects his servants to have managed his wealth wisely. This parable represents our relationship with God. He's the master, and we're the servants. He's entrusted us with resources, and He expects us to manage them wisely.

So today, let's begin managing God's resources in a way that honors Him. Let's use our money not just to make ourselves happy, but to serve others and glorify God.
