Finding and Flourishing in Your Place in the Church

DAY 24 OF 30

LEADING GOD’S PEOPLE EFFECTIVELY

Leadership is a major issue with God and the necessary human manifestation of divine lordship is leadership. God has never done anything through a committee by first gathering people together and electing a leader from their midst, but He first selects the leader. Anybody that is part of those He has set in any of these leadership offices must dignify that office with seriousness, maturity, and sensitivity. This is to ensure that when such a person manifests leadership, it would be an expression of the lordship of Jesus for the people and they are indirectly following Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit when they follow such leadership.

When choosing leadership for anything in the House of God, we should choose the person that can hear God more to provide spiritual leadership. For example, the person that is best placed to lead the choir should be someone that can hear God the best, rather than one that can sing the best. It is a dangerous subversion of the program of God for somebody else in the Assembly to hear God better than the person that God has put in front. If God has called you to lead His people, He has a covenant commitment to talk to you if you will listen to Him. As you spend time with Him, let that lordship be clearly demonstrated in your leadership. “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ (1 Cor. 11:1)” should be what you can boldly say to the people you are leading. Spending time with God and following the Lord are critical for a spiritual leader because people are going to follow him even if he is not following the Lord. This is where it becomes dangerous.

PRAYER: Father, fill the Church with wisdom to select leaders that receive from You for the edification of Your people in Jesus’ name. Amen!

About this Plan

Finding and Flourishing in Your Place in the Church

After genuine salvation, God places His children in a church family where they can flourish, blossom, bud, and fill the face of the earth with fruits. Church is God-ordained and when He brings you to a church, beyond a seat in the church, He gives you a spot in your pastor’s heart. This 30-day study would lead you into an experience and understanding of correct church membership.
