Mastering Time Management as a Solopreneur: Insights From JesusSample
The Importance of Time With God
There is for sure one thing that Jesus never compromised: His time with the Father.
According to the Bible, Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed (Luke 5:16).
Following Jesus’ example, I also prioritize time with God, regardless of what is on my mind or calendar.
Having a relationship with God is the foremost thing He desires.
That is why I like to think that, if necessary, God will stop time to make sure we are able to spend a moment with Him and complete our important business tasks. (In Joshua 10:12-15, God actually stops time, so He can do it.)
A story that clearly displayed prioritizing time with God is that of Martha and Mary.
I can relate to zealous Martha very well.
There was so much to do:
- Completing chores
- Preparing food
- Hosting Jesus with excellence
But none of that mattered.
Jesus called Martha out and told her to be more like Mary, who was listening to Him and spending time at His feet.
This scenario sounds like any solopreneur during their workday: God, my day is packed. I’ll shorten our time together to 15 minutes so I can do great kingdom work for you. At least we’ll get some quality time, right?
While that sounds logical, God asks you to pause and instead extend your time together. The more time you spend with Him, the more you become a Christ-like solopreneur following God’s plan.
Is spending time with God, regardless of the busyness of the day ahead, your number-one priority?
Blessings,
Jane
