God’s Plan for Marriage

DAY 5 OF 5

Building a New Family

God created both men and women. He also created families and marriage to serve His best purpose. The family is a key component of God’s intentions for His earthly kingdom. God communicates, protects, and advances His reign through the family. His teachings are lived out and passed down in the family household. Adam’s offspring can give a favorable image of the Divine, love, order, community, provision, and rules as a Christian household. Adam was the family’s patriarch, and Eve was his helpmate. This pair established the first family on earth and served as the model for subsequent families. Adam, the man, made the decisions in the family. The family thrived when he made sensible choices. His household and the families descended from him suffered greatly when he rejected God’s commands. Just as sin and death were brought into the world by one man, and as all men sinned, death was brought into the world through sin (Romans 5:12). The sinful nature of their parents was passed down to Adam’s offspring—the tendency to go against the ways of God. Although it might appear God couldn’t accomplish His goals with man, God did not forsake the family.

From the chaotic and rebellious culture at the time, God picked a man and his descendants by which His Holy intent would be kept and multiplied when He established a new family in Genesis 12. God picked Abraham to leave his family and everything he knew, and travel in His desired direction. Abraham was not faultless, yet despite this, God wanted to use him to bless humankind through his family. Even now, God utilizes families as a forum to advance His pious intentions. God brought His only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world by using one of these wonderful families. Jesus was raised by upright parents who followed and taught the Old Testament. Jesus would later apply the lessons He had learned as a kid. The church is a brand-new family that God established. For individuals like us to be accepted into His household as His descendants and live His truth, God the Father offered up His son as a sacrifice.

However, He provided the ability for individuals who trust in His name to become children of God by receiving Him (John 1:12). God has made it abundantly apparent to the family and the church how to live happily ever after. Without healthy families, society and the church will be weak. Christ can only fulfill His magnificent purpose for the church when families are strong. For us to create holy families and churches, God has left us with His Holy Spirit and His Word. We cannot claim that God did not reveal to us how to create holy families since we hold the Word of God in our hands. I hope we don’t make any mistakes while we form our family.

Day 4

About this Plan

God’s Plan for Marriage

Marriage is a supernatural invention that originates in God’s heart rather than something that man invented. Adam was only surrounded by animals and had no one of his species with whom to share or dwell; marriage provided him with companionship. God has marriage in mind. Learn God’s plan for reflecting His image, providing companionship, establishing and expanding His kingdom, raising godly children, and creating a new family by joining us for ten minutes each day for five days.
