God’s Plan for Marriage

DAY 1 OF 5

Reflecting God’s Image in Our Marriage

“God created man in his image” is written at the beginning of Genesis, the very first book of the Bible, as the conclusion of the creation narrative. The married couple—both the man and the woman—is the representation of God. The covenant between a man and a woman represents God’s covenant with us, which is the Image of God. It is love. We were meant to be loving beings, to reflect God and His love (Colossians 3:10). The marriage between a man and a woman is a symbol of reciprocity and the union of full and everlasting life, and it is where the man and the woman both fulfill this calling.

God, in a sense, “reflects” Himself in a man and a woman when they celebrate the marriage ceremony by impressing His own rules and the unchangeable nature of His love. Marriage is a really lovely representation of God’s love for us. In truth, God is communion; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit all coexist in perfect harmony. And this is essentially the secret of marriage: God creates a single existence for the two halves of a couple. The marriage between a man and a woman is quite intimate, as the Bible clearly states they are “one flesh”! And precisely, this is the marriage problem. Marriage, or the decision to live together, reflects God’s love. For this reason, a man leaves his home—his parents’ home—and moves in with his wife, becoming so closely bonded to her that the Bible describes them as becoming “one flesh.” They are one; they are not two.

The Lord is always the valid link. When everyone in the family prays, they stay close. This link is strengthened when the husband and wife pray for one another. Both of them pray together.

Marriage indeed presents a lot of challenges. Husbands may face numerous challenges due to their work and insufficient pay. And so frequently, the husband and wife become a little tense and quarrel with one another, right? Do you say they fight? Always! It’s usually like that: a matrimonial dispute always ensues, right? But dishes may also fly, huh? Are you laughing? But the fact remains. We should not, however, be depressed over this. That is how the human condition is. The key would be that love is more powerful than a heated argument. As a result, I always counsel married couples to end a day of fighting by making amends. Always! And to return home and make peace, it is not required to summon the UN. It only takes a quick touch to say goodbye and see you tomorrow. And on Monday, it all starts over. Life is being lived this way, it reflects the courage of desiring to live it all together. And this is large and gorgeous, huh?

Day 2

About this Plan

God’s Plan for Marriage

Marriage is a supernatural invention that originates in God’s heart rather than something that man invented. Adam was only surrounded by animals and had no one of his species with whom to share or dwell; marriage provided him with companionship. God has marriage in mind. Learn God’s plan for reflecting His image, providing companionship, establishing and expanding His kingdom, raising godly children, and creating a new family by joining us for ten minutes each day for five days.
