Five Days in Creation for Parents and KidsSample
Today: Take a brief walk in an open field, pasture, farm, or meadow. If possible, find a group of grazing livestock to observe.
Say something like:
Let’s run in this big open field as far as we can. Ready, set, go! (Run together as long you are not disturbing any animals. If animals are present, just walk the perimeter of the fence.)
What did it feel like to run? What animals do you see? (Discuss what you see.) Did you know that for many animals, grass is their food? Isn’t it neat to think God put their food all over the earth?
What’s your favorite food? Why do you love it? Tell me how you feel when you eat it or eat a meal with your family or your best friend. Do you sometimes feel so happy you want to sing?
That’s similar to what happens in creation. God made the beautiful earth and animals, and he also made a way for them to be nourished and grow. That’s why the Bible says that there’s joy in the fields. Even the grass sings with delight!
Pray: Thank God for his provision of food and nourishment. Ask him to help your gratitude turn to joy.

About this Plan
Each day, take a walk with your little one to a different destination in creation and hear the unique songs of joy that praise God there. Using five different Psalms, you’ll explore the delight of the sun, moon, stars, earth, sky, water, and animals. You and your child will learn to praise God in a new way during this five-day devotional.
