Parasha Minute: Genesis / Breisheet

DAY 17 OF 31

"Trusting Adonai Strong"

Having believed and received from Adonai did not exempt Avram's (Abram's) trust from being tested anew when a severe famine hit Kena'an (Canaan). Egypt promised grain, meat, livestock, and servants. He could go there. Approaching Egypt he realized, the beauty of his half-sister/wife, Sarai might cost him everything. Any man, prince, or Pharaoh could possibly kill for her. Avram, desperate with no other viable option, decided on a half-lie stating Sarai as his sister, crossing his fingers that it would go well for him. Instead, Adonai inflicted plagues on Pharaoh and his household on account of Sarai. Avram and Sarai's faith wavered, yet Adonai protected them.

Adonai has mercy and love for His own despite omissions, half-truths and missteps. His love is strong enough to see us through. Are we strong enough to trust Him? Reflections / Prayer: Adonai, I need to say sorry for the times I've doubted Your ability to make a way. The times when I tried to take matters into my own hands, showed me that all things are under Your control. I want to cease stressing and surrender to You.
