Finding R.E.S.T While Learning to Embrace Your Imperfect StorySample
S- Set your passions on fire.
“A spark can become a flame, a flame a fire.” Kathyrn Lasky
Something funny happened once I realized that the heartbreak of a broken marriage, the financial loss of bankruptcy, and the bonds of a controlling nature didn’t ruin my future. It sparked a fearlessness inside me. God has a way of showing you just how much more He can do through you as you persist to overcome your current trials and barriers. It’s His power at work inside you (Ephesians 3:20).
A spark produces a flame that can set your passions on fire. Remembering who you are leads to no longer being paralyzed in fear when life isn’t simply easy (John 16:33). Once you are ready to engage your barriers head-on, knowing the power of Christ is behind you (Job 42:2), that’s when you can begin to do those amazing things (Proverbs 19:21) that God has placed in your heart, with grace.
“Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
Just as quickly as the consuming fires of disappointment, anxiety, and despair seek to bring destruction to your story, the spark of purpose ignites a blaze of restoration and redemption, resulting in a stronger foundation than before. You can redeem your story by the power of the cross. You can reach that God-sized goal by the power of the living God within you. You can restore what once was stolen by the resurrecting power of the Lamb of God.
“May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy,” Colossians 1:11
When you know who you are, and you are no longer afraid of your barriers, imperfections, and setbacks, you can start doing. Start doing more of the things you are passionate about. Keep doing the good things (Galatians 6:9) God is calling you to do, even when no one is watching or seems to care (Hebrews 6:10). Do it afraid, if you have to. Allow God to display His glory in your life. This ignites an unquenchable fire within you to persist, especially when your story isn’t what you thought it would be.
