Discover the Power of PrayerSample
Hidden but not forgotten
Prayer will help you find a safe place with God. You may be hidden from the world, but God knows your name. “...your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3, NKJV)
Have you ever forgotten someone’s name? Have you ever felt forgotten by others? Maybe you were passed over for a promotion or the love of your life didn’t feel the same about you. No one likes to be forgotten.
I can’t imagine that anyone forgot Jesus while He lay in a tomb chiseled out of the side of a mountain. He was buried in a rich man’s tomb for a brief period of time, but everyone knew Him. He’d been called “King of the Jews” by the mocking Roman soldiers and “Messiah” by His faithful followers. It’s been two thousand years since Jesus ascended into heaven, and so many have forgotten Him. Even some Christians have become blasé.
Who do you say He is? Is He still in a tomb, or has He risen again in your life?
Can you imagine the reaction of Jesus’ disciples the day after the crucifixion? They didn’t forget Him, but they probably felt forgotten and even abandoned by God. They didn’t know Jesus was busy in hell getting the keys to hell and the grave: “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison.” (1 Peter 3:18-19, NKJV) He did it all for you and for me.
While we are still struggling with COVID and its effects, I can promise you that although you don’t see Him, Jesus is working for you. You may have lost a loved one, or you yourself may be sick. I can promise you that Jesus is working for you.
Do you believe God has forgotten you during these trials? I guarantee you that He hasn’t. The Bible says, “Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” (Romans 8:34, NIV) We may have forgotten Jesus, but He has not forgotten us. Jesus is standing at the right side of the Heavenly Father, praying for you. I’m praying for you because you are a miracle.
