It Comes out in the Wash

In this passage Jacob is sent packing. Only, he's not. He doesn't slink away in shame; he goes under threat but with the blessing of Isaac - a reiteration of the Abrahamic blessing. Somehow God is expected to work with the raw material of flawed humanity - much like Jesus does with a ragtag bunch of fishermen, tradesmen, and tax collectors.

Something to think about while you are reading today’s passage:

Isaac knows what happened in the last chapter. His eyesight is failing, but not his mind. Yet he still affirms the blessing he gave - the one Jacob stole. What does it say about how God - and Isaac's faith - that Isaac hasn't tried to reverse what happened?

The Scarlet Man tells Julian that he can work with what Julian has done, despite the wreckage. Perhaps ask the player what they expected to happen when the Scarlet Man showed up on the Old Mount and how they felt about his decision.
