Psalms Of Praise And The Word

DAY 7 OF 10

A Lofty and Lowly Love

Everyone loves to be thanked, and God is no exception. Psalm 136 begins, “Let everyone thank God, for he is good.” The songwriter then lists reasons why we should be grateful: God is king over all gods, he is Lord of Lords, the miracle-working Lord, the Creator who has filled the heavens with revelation, the Deliverer of his children, the Leader of his people, the Vanquisher of his enemies, and the Great Provider.

Above all, he is the one “who chose us when we were nothing!” (v. 23, TPT) You were nothing, but God came looking for you, rescued you, adopted you, and made something out of you. Let’s live in constant gratitude.

Listen to God’s word of affirmation over you: “You’re my special treasure.” How does it make you feel to be so treasured by the infinite and all-powerful God? Turn your response into heartfelt thanksgiving.

Psalm 136:23 The Passion Translation

“He’s the God who chose us when we were nothing! His tender love for us continues on forever!”

About this Plan

Psalms Of Praise And The Word

The Psalms find the words that express our deepest and strongest emotions, no matter what the circumstances. These devotions, inspired by The Passion Translation Psalms: Poetry on Fire, combined with the daily readings, will turn sighing into singing and trouble into triumph. This 10–day reading plan includes the Psalms of praise and the Word spanning Psalms 107-150.
