My Hero: Healing From Wounds of a Father

DAY 7 OF 16

Day 7 - God’s Discipline

The verse we ended on yesterday about God disciplining those He loves is so true because real love doesn’t just deal with the nice and easy things. Real love is willing to do difficult things to obtain a greater end for the other person.

Because He loves us, God is going to discipline us. He’s not going to let us waltz through life doing whatever we want to do without correcting us when we go wrong. He’ll put trials and tribulations in our path so we can learn from them. His goal is to mature us to be more like Jesus.

For these lessons to take effect, we need to submit to the discipline God provides. We have to be humble enough to admit that the Lord knows better than we do, then we’ll be able to receive instruction and apply it to our lives.

This can be difficult to do if you haven’t learned to be disciplined by your earthly father.

Ask God to show you what areas of your life He is trying to discipline you in. Take some time to think about it. Is God trying to teach you something? Are there areas of your life where you’re fighting Him and trying to do your own thing? What do you need to surrender?

About this Plan

My Hero: Healing From Wounds of a Father

Dads can be such important figures they seem almost larger than life, like superheroes. God gave us earthly fathers to be extensions of Him to provide protection, guidance, and love. When they don’t fulfill those expectations, it can cause deep wounding. This plan covers ways we can get healing from the wounds of a father.
