Christian Leadership

DAY 3 OF 5

Valuing Others In Humility

You’ve been attending your church for a while and someone asks if you’ll help out on a roster for something – Bible reading, kids’ ministry, service leading, music, home group, and then soon you’re running the program. Sound familiar? Suddenly you’re in charge of a ministry at your church and it seems much bigger than you thought. You wonder how that happened and think, ‘Can I actually do this?’

As we seek God’s path, sometimes we find ourselves in positions of leadership in our church or Christian community. Most of us do this as volunteers – leading something, on a Council, in music, the treasurer, providing food, helping those in need. All are equally important and are forms of ministry.

It’s a privilege and responsibility to serve in this way. As we lead, we are serving others and want to point them to what a life following Jesus means in practice.

In my experience, to be effective in your ministry and to honour God, reparation and giving time to it are vital. This is valuing others in humility. God blesses everyone through that ministry.

Jesus provided the example of humility in ministry as He served. He gave His life so that we might have eternal life. Look to His example of humility as we lead, recognising that, through Jesus’ power, it is our community or church we are serving in that ministry.

Recognise the privilege, give it your best, and honour God as you undertake it!

About this Plan

Christian Leadership

We are all leaders. Leaders in our homes, leaders in our families, leaders in our workplace, leaders in ministry and leaders in our community. This study will look at Christian Leadership in our families, in business, in ministry, in decision-making and in following. Our hope is that through these devotions you’ll be refined and encouraged as a leader in your life.
