Crisis Converted

DAY 44 OF 64

Theme: Restoration

Crisis Converted Then:

Just as the Jewish Year of Jubilee was intended to set captives free and restore land to its original owners, so the return from exile will release the captives and restore the Promised Land back to God’s people.

The Messianic servant will be a new Joshua, reassigning land inheritances, as well as a new Moses, providing abundantly for the traveling people of God with food and water, relief and compassion.

Crisis Converted Now:

A picture of heavenly reality borrows from this prophecy. God’s ultimate gift to the followers of Jesus is that they will never hunger or thirst, but instead, they will be sheltered from oppressive heat next to springs of living water.

The lead servant blazing this trail for his people is Jesus, who still calls captives caught in darkness into abundant life. Jesus still provides for his people’s needs and makes his narrow way straight for his people to follow.

About this Plan

Crisis Converted

This study from Isaiah 40-55 explores our identity as people affected by trauma but living in hope. In the exile, God’s nation had to find new life when their old life had been completely overturned and destroyed. Similarly, we now find ourselves trying to “return to normal” in the aftermath of a global pandemic. Yet, God can take any crisis and convert it for his glory and our growth.
