Crisis Converted

DAY 46 OF 64

Theme: God remembers his own people.

Crisis Converted Then:

God’s holy city Zion is pictured as a forsaken woman, grieving God’s neglect. But Yahweh assures her that he has not forgotten her. In fact, she is engraved (tattooed?) on God’s hands.

And God advises her to look up again and see her inhabitants returning to her. Zion will be a beautiful bride once again as her people return with singing. Her return will be so great that even Zion itself will not be big enough to house her growing family.

Crisis Converted Now:

God’s compassion for his enslaved people is never forgotten. So great is his love that he cradles us as his children and engraves our names on his person. Never will he leave or forsake us!

We long for the day when the heavenly city will be filled to the brim with God’s redeemed people. I suspect that we may be surprised at the depth of God’s grace to have so many people saved through the blood of Jesus. While we may feel forgotten in this darkened world, God cradles his kids and grows his kingdom. Perhaps one day, we’ll look at all the redeemed at the end of time and ask like Isaiah: “Where have they come from?”

About this Plan

Crisis Converted

This study from Isaiah 40-55 explores our identity as people affected by trauma but living in hope. In the exile, God’s nation had to find new life when their old life had been completely overturned and destroyed. Similarly, we now find ourselves trying to “return to normal” in the aftermath of a global pandemic. Yet, God can take any crisis and convert it for his glory and our growth.
