Pandemic PregnancySample
Thank you for joining me on this devotional journey. Let’s be real; the past few years have been tough for most people. Jobs, families, day-to-day life, everything has been affected; throw in the family planning process and you have a potentially stressful situation no matter what the circumstances!
My sisters and I live in 3 different states, but we all found ourselves (unintentionally) pregnant during 2020. I say unintentionally because we were all trying to get pregnant, but had no idea it would happen at the exact same time. My husband and I tried for 2 years, suffered 1 miscarriage, and were the last in my family to find out we were pregnant. We didn’t even announce it till I was almost 5 months along just in simple fear for the unknown and anxiety over our previous pregnancy. My sisters announced their pregnancies around Christmas 2019 and I remember the heartache my husband and I instantly felt as we so longed to be parents ourselves. Little did we know, a few short weeks later, I would be pregnant as well.
Everyone has their journey to parenthood. No matter how you get there, it is filled with ups and downs, tears and heartache, fear and anxiety; all the emotions you can imagine are lumped into one beautiful experience! The one common denominator we have regardless of how long, short, stressful, or joyous those journeys are is our relationship with Jesus Christ and how His love affects our ability to love our spouse and our children with our whole hearts.
Today I want you to spend some time in prayer. Pray for your spouse. Once the babies start coming it can be really easy to lose focus of your partner. You put all your love and energy on the new tiny human, but your story began with the human you said "I do" to. Pray for them, remind them they are cared for and appreciated, and journal about your goals for what your marriage will look like once kids are involved. Do you want to keep date nights? Do you want to do family dinner every night? Family game nights? What does your future family look like? Journal and pray!
