DAY 5 OF 7

Dishonest Profit

The feeling of non-acceptance professionally or being unsuccessful personally could be the reasons for seeking unjust gain. While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him (Gen 4:8). God had already talked to Cain about why his sacrifice wasn’t accepted. But, he did not value the Word of God. Lack of reverence for the Word of God is dangerous.

Corruption flows like water and nations across the globe are plunging. Some time back, there was news about professional killers in the country. Acceptance of unjust money to kill unsuspecting victims seems to have become the order of the day. How sad. This happens within any strata of the society to get that extra mileage or business gain. When we despise the laws of God, the law of the land has little effect.

Let us look at what God’s Word says: In you are people who accept bribes to shed blood. Sometimes we hear about the non-acceptance of animal killing. What about precious human lives? We hear about usury or interest that the moneylender collects from the poor man who is already heavily burdened with debts. What drives people to murder and extortion? The lure for dishonest means of cash or material gets started by jealousy.

In the corporate world, people thrive on character assassination, talking ill about their peers in the workplace and spoil their reputation. Why is it done? If we make a conscious assessment of the situation, the background or the root cause would be jealousy. If the professional graph of a person is showing an upward trend, then this is a conscious effort to hamper further growth. Character assassination can be equated to murder. You shall not murder (Ex 20:13) is a command of God. What is built by careful planning over the years could easily be destroyed in a moment’s time. Sometimes, people go all out to kill the reputation and malign the character of somebody. Please, watch out!

O Lord, a dishonest gain is never a blessing. As a true child of God, help me to be honest in all my dealings with others. Amen

About this Plan

Grass Yonder Greener

Even a king with all his wealth and grandeur found another man’s vineyard appealing in I Kings 21. Irrespective of our official position, greed can get the better of us at unguarded moments. But covetousness has no place in godliness. Aldrin Joseph calls us to examine ourselves today since gaining riches and wealth will not satiate the spirit which is famished with deep spiritual hunger.
