Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus

DAY 13 OF 14

Victorious Life in the Kingdom of Jesus

Of those standing there with Jesus, some would not taste death till they come into the experience of the kingdom of Jesus. One of the remarkable experiences in the kingdom of Jesus is victory over sin.

The law of sin and death operates in our flesh, but in the kingdom of Jesus, the life of the King pulsates within us and a new and higher law of the Spirit of life in Jesus operates in us,. It overcomes the lower law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). The law was good and showed us the holy standards of God, but the law was incapable of keeping us from sin. It did not give us the power to live and meet God’s standards. The law only made us feel inadequate, frustrated, and angry with ourselves. It brought us to a realization of our deplorable condition.

God set all this right by sending His Son, Jesus, who condemned sin in the flesh (Romans 8:3). The King, who overcame the enemy—the flesh—takes up residence within us when we place our trust in Him as our Savior. We now live with the empowering and under the authority of the King, overcoming sin in the flesh. The righteous requirement of the law is fulfilled in us who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit of the King - Jesus (Romans 8:4).

This life of King Jesus in us was the mystery that was hidden through the ages, but now has been revealed to the saints, the Church. The Church is identified as those who are living the life of King Jesus in them. Christ in us is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:24-27)

Thought to ponder

Are we trying to please God through our efforts when Christ in us is the hope of glory?
