Real Hope: Obedience

DAY 5 OF 5

Obeying God's Call

A little while ago, God told me to write a book. I wondered if I could do it. If it would ever be good enough to be published. Writing was a step of faith; a response of obedience.

But once I’d made the decision to do what God said, writing has been surprisingly easy. In my preparation, I discovered that I’d already ticked off eight out of the 10 things ‘every writer should do’. I’d already prepared much of what the experts had said. I was ready for it. As I write I’ve been surprised just how easily it has come together.

It’s happened before. That moment of surprise when you realise you can actually do something you never thought you could. Every time God has called me to do something, I’ve been amazed just how suited I was to the task.

God never calls you to do something that’s not in you. But we will never know it until obedience brings it out. You can stand on the cliff face surveying the terrain all you like but you will never know you were made to fly until you jump. And then, you will find obeying God’s call will untie wings you never knew you had.

About this Plan

Real Hope: Obedience

So often the word ‘obedience’ doesn’t draw out positive meaning. However, that is just what the Bible tells us it is. In the Bible, obedience is meant to bring freedom and joy. At its essence it is a demonstration of a life lived with God. This plan is intended to challenge our worldly definition of obedience and align our hearts and understanding to the heavenly definition.
