8 Days to Rethink Your Thinking (For Wives)

DAY 4 OF 8

Are your thoughts about your husband PURE?

What does it mean to think pure thoughts about your husband? It means that you do not allow lies, anger, hurt, frustration, or bitterness to invade the thoughts you have about him. Again, you have the power to choose the thoughts you think. Maybe you have been hurt. Maybe your husband hasn’t always acted in a kind and considerate way towards you. If you allow those hurtful actions to completely invade your thoughts by rehearsing the events over and over again you will soon find it impossible to think pure and God-centered thoughts about your husband.

One definition I read for the word pure said “free from guilt; guiltless; innocent.”

Do you find that it is hard to have pure thoughts about your husband? Are you holding things against him? Oftentimes the roadblock is the struggle to release him from the offense you are holding against him. This certainly creates a problem in your heart and in your relationship with him. We have to learn to forgive our husbands quickly, because without forgiveness we cannot please God.

Mark 11:26 (NASB2020) tells us “But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your offenses." The Bible is pretty clear that forgiving our husbands has a big impact on how God forgives us. Ouch!!!

As you learn to forgive you will find it much easier to think pure thoughts about your husband.

Choose today to think about your thoughts. Make an assessment of whether or not you are holding unforgiveness in your heart and mind about your spouse. Choose to forgive and watch God move powerfully in you and your marriage.
