James: Faith in ActionSample
Walking in Faith Together
Everyone needs to hear the gospel: the good news that Jesus died and rose again to take the punishment for our sins so that we're made right with God (and one day have eternal life too!). Jesus tells his followers in Matthew 28:19-20 to go out and tell everyone about the gospel, and since we're followers of Jesus, we need to do that too.
It's not just people who haven't heard about the good news of Jesus yet that need to be reminded of the gospel though. Even people who have heard it before might be tempted to walk away from it and say "no" to God. As Christian brothers and sisters, we need to help keep each other on track and encourage one another to continue following Jesus. This is just one reason why regularly meeting with other Christians is so helpful, whether that's church, youth group, small group, or something else.
So, let's put faith into action and support one another as we live our lives for Jesus.
Questions:
- Why do you think spending time with other Christians regularly helps us to keep each other on track?
- How do you think you can keep an eye out for someone who might be having a tough time with their faith?
- If you do think someone is struggling in their walk with Jesus, how do you think you could help them? You could pray for them or with them, set up a time to read the Bible together, or encourage them to join you at church.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for sending Jesus and that I've become part of Your family because of what He did for me. Thank you for the book of James and all the things I've learned about how to live for You in it. Would Your Holy Spirit remind me of the things I've read. Please help me to encourage other Christians in their faith and to share the gospel with people who haven't heard it yet. Give me courage and strength to do both these things. Amen.
