Faith Over Fear

DAY 2 OF 5

Choose What You Listen to

Working from home has given many people ‘additional’ time that they didn’t usually have. Most of our time and attention now might be used to follow the latest updates on COVID-19. It’s on the news, it’s on our social media, it’s the main discussion in our WhatsApp groups, or our family’s dining table, and maybe it even has become a constant topic at home. No wonder many of us feel more anxious and stressful. And it gets worse with questions like, “How long will this go on?”

Proverbs 12:25 says, “Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” Matthew 6:27 also reminds us, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"

So, choose intentionally today:

What to talk about?

What will you talk about at home? There are many things to talk about. Don’t spend your time and attention only on following updates of COVID-19.

Where and when to talk about COVID-19?

If you do need to talk about COVID-19, maybe you can set a certain time and place. Turn your television and check out your social media only at a certain time and place that you have decided on.

Controlling your thoughts and your feelings must be done intentionally everyday. If you feel that your thoughts and feelings have been driven too much by the news you’ve heard, start to control it today.

I pray that the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Let God Himself, the source of peace, reign over you, in the name of Jesus, amen.
