Faith Over Fear

DAY 1 OF 5

Call to the Lord

In the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all of us are faced with multiple difficulties; from losing people close to our hearts, dealing with the economic fallout and financial crisis, or even struggling to regain our own health.

Fear, worry, anxiety, and desperation can quickly fill our hearts and minds as we navigate through the uncharted waters of pandemic. We won’t overcome our difficulties by merely telling ourselves, “Don’t be scared!” or, “Don’t panic!” Everything will be solved so easily if only we can deal with our negative emotions this way.

Although we can’t control what happens around us, we need to remember that we can control what happens inside our hearts and minds. The Word of God today teaches us that, “In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help.”

It is OK for us to call to God; to cry for help in our desperation. Pour out your heart to God and let His words reassure you as well, and one day you will testify that, “From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.”

Maybe it’s time for you to go into your room today to seek after God and cry out to Him. As you come to Him, bring your thanksgiving, like when David came to God bringing Him praises.

I pray that after you’ve encountered God and poured out everything to Him through prayers, petition, and thanksgiving, the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
