The Bible Quarantine: Episode 3 - God Understands
SCRIPTURE: John 1-2
When we get in the Bible, we are reminded that God is with us, that He is near, and that He cares. The Gospel of John tells us that Jesus came to earth on a rescue mission—He chose to identify with us.
This is one thing that sets Christianity apart from every other religion—God chooses to suffer with us. Jesus came with the purpose of laying down His life for us. He suffers with us, and He suffers for us. The book of Hebrews tells us that because we have a high priest who understands (Jesus!), we can boldly come to God with our requests.
Think about the difference it makes to have a God like that.
- God understands. He knows what you’re going through. He empathizes with you. You can bring your needs to Him.
- God cares. He isn’t far off or distant. He’s near, ready to listen and pour life into you.
- God saves. He is our rescuer and redeemer. Jesus died so that we could have life and confidence in Him.
Because of Jesus, we can come boldly before a God who understands. He is here and in control, and we are not alone. In this season, choose to grow and encourage others. Draw near to God in the Gospel of John today, and watch God draw near to you.
