DAY 1 OF 31

100% God (Sacrifice)

Jimmy Page

Ready:

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Set:

Early in our two days of intense training with the Navy SEALS, we were exposed to aspects of the BUDs training and were feeling the mental and physical exhaustion that comes with it. That’s when we came face to face with a small piece of what it would take to be a SEAL – the “40% Rule.”

The 40% Rule is simple. When your mind tells you that you’re done, exhausted, and can’t go any further – you’re actually only 40% done. Let that sink in. When you want to give up, you’re only at 40% of what you can actually handle. At that point, we had done over 200 pushups in the sand. That means we should have been capable of doing at least another 300. No one was up for that.

Every athlete knows what it means to push beyond their limits. We also know what it’s like when we don’t give our all or stop short.

That’s what makes the sacrifice of Jesus so remarkable. God the Father sent Him and He was 100% all in. He sacrificed everything. He chose death so we might live…forever. He chose the road that led to humiliation, betrayal, loneliness, beatings, and crucifixion. Why did He do this? He knew we were separated from God, and there was nothing we could do to repair our broken relationship. We couldn’t be good enough or do enough to earn His favor. He loved us so much that He paid the price!

Go:

1. Think about the 40% Rule. Have you ever been ready to quit, but knew you still had more to give? When?

2. Knowing that Jesus gave 100% so you can live, how will you respond? Will you place your trust in Him? How will you live differently?

Workout:

  • Romans 3:23, 6:23
  • Ephesians 2:8-9

Overtime:

“God thank You for sending Your son Jesus to be 100% all in for me.”
