Love God Greatly: Risen

DAY 8 OF 40

In Philippians 3 Paul includes a long discourse about his new life in Christ. All the accomplishments, successes, relationships, and things he acquired meant nothing to him once he met Christ. After his conversion (Acts 9:1-19), the focus of Paul’s life changed.

The aim of Paul’s life became to share in the power of Christ’s resurrection. To do this, Paul understood that he also needed to share in Christ’s suffering and death. This death didn’t mean physical death for Paul, but the death of his sinful nature, the death of his life before Christ.

The resurrection changes everything, including our spiritual lives. Like Paul, we can share in the resurrection of Christ by putting to death the desires of our sinful nature and by living by the Holy Spirit, who lives in us.

Lord Jesus, I praise You for the great work of redemption You have done in my life. Help me to put to death my sinful desires every day as I seek to follow You. Let me understand what it means to live in the power of Your resurrection through the Holy Spirit who lives in me. Amen.
