DAY 14 OF 116

2CHRONICLES 7-8:
Yesterday in 2nd Chronicles we heard Solomon’s famous prayer at the dedication of the temple. He understood that the people would need forgiveness from the Lord, and requested the Lord’s mercy.

PROVERBS 28a:
Here is another favorite verse taken from today’s reading in Proverbs:

Pro. 28:8 NLT Income from charging high interest rates
will end up in the pocket of someone who is kind to the poor.

MATTHEW 10b:
Yesterday in Matthew we heard the list of the twelve apostles, and the beginning of the instructions to them. It is clear that Jesus gave this message for all of us, not just the twelve. The word ‘apostle’ (which is a word transliterated from Greek) means ‘one sent with a message’ or a ‘representative’. This happens to be the exact meaning of a word transliterated from Latin: missionary.

Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, give us the courage to never be ashamed to publicly say that we belong to You. We want You to say before the Father and all the angels that we are your followers. Help us to recognize the Father’s love for us. Help us reject ever trying to hide something from your view, because You will reveal all secrets. This also means that the injustices done to us are all observed and known by You and the Father. Lord Jesus, give us courage in any situations we will face where people hate us for following You. Help us to be calm and take comfort in your words, that the Father’s Spirit will give us words to say in our defense. We trust in You, Lord, to provide for our needs whenever we go, even now, to proclaim, “The Kingdom of Heaven is near.” Please always give us a roof over our heads, and hosts who will accept your message. And Lord, may You stretch out your hand to perform miracles to validate your message. It is all by your grace, and without our paying anything for it, that we have been saved. So may we freely teach your Word to others.
