DAY 13 OF 116

2CHRONICLES 6:
Yesterday in 2nd Chronicles we heard of the various things that Huram-abi made under Solomon’s direction for the temple, and of the dedication of the temple. In today’s (not reverent) language, we might say that the Lord ‘showed up’ for that dedication, just like He did for the dedication of the tabernacle.

PROVERBS 27b:
Our highlighted verse from Proverbs for today is 27:21, which is good to meditate on in both the GNT and NLT:

Pro. 27:21 [GNT Fire tests gold and silver;
a person's reputation can also be tested.
//NLT Fire tests the purity of silver and gold,
but a person is tested by being praised.]

MATTHEW 10a:
Many stories were brought together by Matthew in chapter 9, including the calling of Matthew— who is most likely the writer of this book. Note that opposition is ramping up against Jesus from the religious teachers and the Pharisees. Like at the end of John 4, Jesus spoke of the need for God to send workers into the spiritual harvest.

Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, may we be among those who are healed by You because we so fully believe in You. The men bringing the paralyzed man believed that You could and would heal him. You dealt with that man’s sins before healing him. The Jewish official believed and knelt down before you to make his request. You raised his daughter from death while the laughing doubters were put out of the house. The woman with the chronic bleeding believed. She didn’t want to call attention to herself, but You felt her touch on the tassel of your robe. You did not scold her but said, “Courage, my daughter! Your belief in me has made you well.” And to the blind men You asked, “Do you believe that I can heal you?” When they said Yes, You said, “Let it happen, then, just as you believe.” And at the end of the chapter, Matthew wrote that You preached the Good News about the Kingdom and healed people with every kind of disease and sickness. So we say, “We believe. Help our unbelief.” Give us simple faith in You. In that belief now, we reach out and touch the tassel of your robe. And now that You have blessed us, may we be the people who answer that prayer about workers to gather in the harvest. Send us out, Lord.
