A Father’s Blessing

DAY 2 OF 3

Generational Wealth, Character, and Integrity.

Notice, what David had declared in 1 Chronicles‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬, “Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.” David worshipped God. When a king, or a person in authority, gives honor to God, they surrender everything under his or her stewardship over to God.

Notice in the scriptures prior to 1 Chronicles‬ ‭29:11‬, David honored God through the resources under his stewardship. 1 Chronicles‬ ‭29:2-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬ expounds how David gave with all of his might, to the work of the house of the Lord, “Gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.” David secured the foundation of Solomon’s kingdom. David established Solomon — his son.

Solomon did not begin his reign at “ground zero”. Solomon had help from his Father — the king. Kings establish kings. Fathers establish sons. Fathers establish the generational pattern for success. David established a legacy and pattern of generational wealth for the next king — His son.

In addition to financial wealth, David left an inheritance of character and integrity to his son. Notice in ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭29:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬, after king David offered wealth and resources to build the house of God and to establish the work of the next generation, David also lent his character, reputation and good name to the next generation. Proverbs‬ ‭22:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬ states, “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.”

Because of David’s character, leadership and good name, the people under his stewardship followed his example of giving to the vision. Good Fathers leave an inheritance of wealth and character. “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.” Proverbs‬ ‭13:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬
