21 Days To A Teenager’s Spiritual ChangeSample
On a Brake
We're halfway through with our plan. You might be panting and willing to give up. Don't do it!
Let's begin this devotion with a riddle.
It can eliminate your good mood. It takes away the sense of life and undermines all enthusiasm. When you have it, everything you do makes no sense. What is it?
Yes, you're right, it's discouragement. It can take away your friends, passions, and hobbies. Because of it you might be called a grumbler.
Imagine your parents gave you your dream car. You get inside to go for your first drive, but your parents want you to only go 25mph. Or your father sits beside you and keeps his foot on the brake, so you cannot accelerate. That stinks, what kind of drive is that? That's not what you’ve been dreaming of! The same is with the discouragement; it's like driving with the emergency brake on or with your dad's foot on a brake. Get rid of discouragement and enjoy your life!
You might have tasted the discouragement, or maybe you can taste it now. There might have been something in your life that didn't work out. You might have been disappointed with the lack of results, with a friend, or maybe even with God. Cheer up! Discouragement is just a phase! God hasn't finished with you yet. Be careful, He is only starting!
Prayer: Lord, thank you for all the encouragement and joy to live a happy life that I find in you. Thank you that I can always talk to you about my discouragement. Lord, help me get rid of discouragement and make me an encouragement to others. Amen.
Challenge: Think for a moment. Are you discouraged? What have you stopped doing just because you got discouraged? Have you lost a passion? Maybe you were disappointed in not getting the answer or the results you wished for? Maybe you should get back to one of those things, but this time with the proper mindset. Think about it and give it a try! You have nothing to lose!
