The Light of God’s Word 

Nothing on earth can grow without sunlight. This God-given ball of fire is vital to all life on our planet. As NASA says, “Nothing is more important to us on Earth than the Sun. Without the Sun's heat and light, the Earth would be a lifeless ball of ice-coated rock. The Sun warms our seas, stirs our atmosphere, generates our weather patterns, and gives energy to the growing green plants that provide the food and oxygen for life on Earth.”

The same is true for the light of God’s Word. It warms the iciest of hearts, stirs up a godly atmosphere wherever it’s spoken, generates spiritual patterns in our hearts and homes, and gives divine energy to every area of our lives. And yet, God’s word even lights the path of His will for our lives. 

When King David said God’s Word was a “light” for his feet and a “lamp” for his path—it’s interesting he used this kind of imagery. God doesn’t always give us a clear picture of where He wants us to walk. It’s not like He gives us a spotlight to see the path miles ahead. But what God has promised is a lamp that shines His light directly on our feet, so we can see just enough in front of us. Making sure that as we walk, we continue to take each step on firm ground.  

It is only through the Word of God that you can know God’s will, walk worthy of the gospel, and arrive at the destination He has set out for you. And it is only by the light of His Word that you can grow in your faith and become the mature believer He has called you to be. So, stay committed to stay in step in His light!
