DAY 6 OF 7

What is fair?

How many times in your life do you think you’ve said the phrase, “It’s not fair”? Probably more than you’d like to admit, right? And if you have siblings, you’ve definitely heard them say it before. In fact, it’s a pretty common phrase in our world. So, why do you think we say it so often?

Turns out, there may be a hidden secret we mean when we talk about things not being fair. Let’s check it out in today’s video:

Ouch. When we’re so busy focused on what’s “fair” for us, we forget to notice other people. We stop thinking about what’s best for others and start being consumed with what’s best for us. And that can make us start living selfish, self-centered lives instead of others-first lives, which is what Jesus calls us to do.

When things aren’t fair for other people, that becomes injustice, and that’s not okay. Injustice is not right, but we often have the power to do something about it.

So, how do you spot injustice? Take your eyes off yourself and focus them on others. Ask God to show it to you and ask for help deciding what to do about it.

Courage looks like living and loving like Jesus, who treated everyone fairly—even though we didn’t deserve it. So, even when you don’t feel like treating others fairly or you might feel like something’s unfair to you, do what Jesus would do. Treat others the way Jesus would treat them. Because what Jesus did for us wasn’t fair. He was perfect! Yet He chose to die for us so that we could have a relationship with God.

Because of what Jesus did for us, we can do what’s right for the people in our lives, too. So today, start asking for the courage and compassion to see what’s unfair for others and to do something about it.

About this Plan

What Courage Looks Like

You may feel like you don’t have what it takes to be courageous, but what if courage looks different than you think? Courage isn’t always taking huge leaps of faith—it starts with taking baby steps into the unknown. Through this 7-day Bible Plan featuring videos from The Loop Show, we’ll take a look at what courage really is and why we can have courage through Christ.
