Brave to fear God over man
When we are afraid of other people’s disapproval, when we are afraid that we don’t measure up to someone’s standards, and when we are afraid of letting people down, we’re “fearing people.” It is a dangerous trap because in doing so, we are putting our trust in man instead of in the Lord.
People pleasing imprisons our hearts. But fearing (trusting wholly) the Lord frees us. We have to choose to be brave to fear God over man, knowing that choice will lead us to safety from the dangerous trap of comparison, discouragement, and discontentment. Trusting God brings contentment, confidence, blessing, freedom, and safety. The fear of the Lord leads to life! Proverbs 31:30 says, “A woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.” Fearing the Lord is brave and praiseworthy!
Heavenly Father, thank You for leading me to safety when I trust You wholly. Help me to be brave to fear God over man, and set me free from the imprisonment of people pleasing. Lord, I repent of my misplaced fears, and I turn to You wholeheartedly. Strengthen me with Your Word. Replace my fears with faith. Amen.
About this Plan
There isn’t a woman on this earth who doesn’t struggle with fear, doubt, and uncertainty. Yet, through His Word, God lovingly reminds us over and over again not to live our lives in fear. Instead, He commands us to be strong and courageous…maybe even fearless. Why? Because He is with us. Joshua 1:9
