DAY 25 OF 33

Power Food

Reon Tay

Ready:

“But Jesus told him, No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone.” Luke 4:4

Set:

Everyone is raving about the importance of a healthy diet. Google “Power Food” and the search result is longer than that for “Bible.” The food we eat affects our physical and mental condition. It is vital that athletes have all the nutrients they need to help them perform at their best.

As coaches, we emphasize the sacrifice our athletes need to make in food selection to become a top athlete. It is crucial for athletes to have the right food to fuel the amount of stress their body is placed under.

“Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” Deuteronomy 8:3

When the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, God humbled them with hunger and provided manna. Jesus fasted in the wilderness for 40 days to experience hunger. He withstood the temptation to rely on His own strength to satisfy His hunger.

As sojourners in this world, how do we prepare ourselves to face temptation? Are we feeding on God’s Word so that we can be like Jesus, always ready to give a defense with scripture? Or are we feeding on junk food that will impair our ability to perform at our best?

Choose the real POWER FOOD that will last for eternity!

Go:

1. What are some harmful activities that you need to remove from your lifestyle? (Harmful activities: keeps you from eating God’s manna)

2. How will you allow God’s Word to dwell in you richly? (ie. meditation, scripture memory, journaling)

Overtime:

Father, give me the determination to cut away distractions that are entering my body instead of Your Word, and the discipline to digest Your Word properly. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Day 24Day 26

About this Plan

Strong

Athletes are conditioned to be strong both physically and mentally. But as Christian competitors, we have the game-changing advantage of being spiritually strong. With Jesus Christ and His Word transforming us daily, we can be strong 24/7! The FCA Strong Devotional tackles issues that coaches and athletes during competition and in life. This 31-day plan will also help establish a consistent, daily quiet time with God, and includes extra readings and suggested prayer.
