The Kids Prayer Covenant-How To Talk To God Each DaySample
It’s all about COMMITMENT!
Can You Say It?
Pray: Jesus, I want to follow you as my Lord. Change me any way you want.
Memory Verse: Say John 13:13 three times.
Can You See It?
Our story today is entitled, Peter Wasn’t Perfect, found in Luke 22:54-62.
Peter once said to Jesus, “Even if everyone rejects you, I never will.” But Jesus knew differently and told Peter that before the rooster would crow, Peter would deny knowing him three times.
It happened just like Jesus said. In the courtyard of the high priest’s house, where Jesus was being questioned before his crucifixion, a servant girl saw Peter and said, “You were with Jesus.” Peter yelled, “No, that’s not true—I don’t know what you are talking about!” Then another servant girl said to the people gathered, “This man was with Jesus,” and again Peter denied it. Peter was really scared. He wanted people to stop recognizing him, but it happened a third time! “We know that you are one of them. You speak like someone from Galilee.”
Peter began cursing and swearing. He yelled, “I do not know that man!!” But then it happened. “Cock-a-doodle-doo!” Suddenly Peter remembered Jesus’ words and ran away crying. He knew he had done exactly what Jesus had predicted, and he felt really awful.
Do you know the really cool thing? Jesus didn't give up on Peter. After Jesus was resurrected, he had breakfast with some of his disciples. Jesus asked Peter three times, “Peter, do you love me?” Each time Peter answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Each time Jesus replied, “Feed my sheep.” Jesus wanted Peter to be his disciple and make disciples.
Even though Peter wasn’t perfect, Jesus knew Peter really wanted to follow him as Lord. Peter never denied Jesus again.
Can You Do It?
Commit to following Jesus as Lord of your life.
Commit to letting Jesus have full control of your thoughts, actions and desires.
Spend time letting Jesus know how much you love him and that you want to follow him, obey him and become more like him every day.
Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me and making me one of your children. Help me love and obey you. Help me love others the way you love me. I am sorry for my sins. Wash me clean. I will praise you with my whole heart. Jesus, I want to follow you as my Lord. Change me any way you want.
