Remember When

GIORNO 7 DI 28

At the end of every week, we'll give you a challenge—something to try that might be outside your regular routine. Each challenge is designed to help you develop one important spiritual habit. This week, it's...

SPEND TIME WITH GOD

There's no formula or one right way to spend time with God. Whether you already know how you like to spend time with God, or you're still trying to understand how to hear God's voice, today's challenge is going to help you experiment with some new ways of connecting with God. Try it and see what you discover about God—and about yourself, too!

CHALLENGE

The Christmas season can be hectic with shopping, parties, and school concerts. It's okay—good, even!—to enjoy the time with friends and family. But don't miss the opportunity to slow down and reflect on what Christmas is all about.

Today, take time to sit in the presence of God by bringing light to a dark space. Here's what you do...

  • Choose a time of day when it's dark, like early in the morning or after the sun has set. You could also clear space in a dark room.
  • Have a single candle and something to light it with. Remember to keep the space clear of anything flammable. If a real candle isn't an option, try using LEDs or even the light on your phone.
  • While the candle is lit, read today's verse or something from earlier in the week by candlelight. You could also listen to a worship song about God's presence.
  • Afterward, spend time in prayer, thanking God for the gift of Jesus and asking for help seeing God's presence this Christmas season.
  • Before blowing out the candle, take three deep breaths and try to clear your mind of anything that might make you feel hurried or distracted today.
