But Fools Despise...
The second part of Proverbs 1:7 states, “But fools despise wisdom and instruction.” According to Strong’s Concordance the Hebrew word for “fool”, is ‘eviyl’ (H191), which means: “One who despises wisdom.” The literal translation of the word, “fool”, is revealed in the context of Proverbs 1:7 “...Fools despise wisdom and understanding.” Those who reject wise counsel are considered fools.
Proverbs 11:14 KJV states, “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” Choose to surround yourself with wise counselors who revere and trust in the Lord and those who are led by His Word.
Psalms 1:1 AMPC states, “BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.” Choose to surround yourself with those who choose to walk with God. Choose not to walk in the pathways of the ungodly and foolish. Choose not to follow the blueprint of the ungodly, for their end is destruction. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23 KJV
