Dare to Be WeakSýnishorn
God’s power in weakness
“He said to me: My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness“ (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Paul no longer needed to prove himself by using big words to show his importance. And even if he would have had that tendency, God Himself had made it clear to him that he needed to depend on His power. Paul was suffering from something very uncomfortable in his life. And he had struggled with that issue for a long time. What it was exactly, we do not know. We do know that it bothered him a lot and that Paul had prayed intensely for God to take this burden away from him (2 Corinthians 12:7-8), but God had not. And yet, it had become sufficient for Paul that he was loved and called by God.
It was precisely through this limitation, which made him feel very weak, that God's power became especially visible. Paul dared to be clear about his weakness. In this, too, he was and continues to be an encouragement: God does not cast aside people who lack strength or certain abilities. He shows the power of His love and grace through people like that. He continues to use them in His service! Paul dared to be dependent on God and did not hide the struggle he had with the physical weakness in his life.
In what ways is God's grace sufficient for you in your life?
Thank Him today for the way His strength helps you in your weaknesses.
About this Plan
Most people don't like to feel weak. Physical and mental strength are reassuring because they give us the feeling of being in control of our life. But unfortunately, every person faces weakness from time to time. How does that work in the life of a follower of Jesus? Paul, a believer we meet in the Bible, has something to say about that. We are going to listen to his thoughts in this reading plan.
