It Is God's DecisionSýnishorn
It is God's decision.
"I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted" (Job 42:2). Nothing you have now is because of the good things you do, but because of God's very goodness.
Job's friends questioned Job and declared him guilty, as if to say, "You live the way you live because you must have done something wrong." And the explanation then for living good things is that we must be doing something good. The absurdity of this is that no one can justify themselves before God as a person who does everything right, but we can present ourselves before Him as righteous, not thanks to our holiness, but to what He did on the cross; therefore, we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
When God rebukes Eliphaz and his friends, He shows them that there are decisions that are His. He is sovereign and King. He can make decisions, and He can do whatever He wants because He has the power to do so. If God has given you a blessing today, if you woke up today, it was because He commanded your body to do so; if you have things today, it is because God sent an order for you to have it. God can do whatever He wants, however He wants, with whomever He wants. He can use a young man to demonstrate the wisdom that was lacking in four elders (Job 32:8-9). He can give riches to someone He esteems without this person having done anything in his favor (Job 42:10).
He can empower and give knowledge to a person who has never received any education (Isaiah 40:14). He can enrich and honor someone without the need for contacts or friends (Job 42:7-9).
He can use a child to defeat a giant. He can move mountains from their place by the sound of His voice. It is God's decision.
