It Is God's Decision

DAY 2 OF 3

It is God's decision for me to receive all that He has promised.

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will" (Ephesians 1:11).

To waver. That's a word that can characterize us as human beings. Even the most confident person can say, "I will do it!" But if, at some point in life, they see adverse circumstances and threats, that decision may be changed. I can't say that everyone is like that, but there is a high probability that we all promise things that we later cannot fulfill.

However, when God gives you a promise, He is not making it from the moment you first hear it. He makes it from the fulfillment of that promise, from the moment He already sees you with the realization of what you are barely hearing (Isaiah 46:10). It is certain, it is real, it is a decision that God has made. I can receive all that He has promised me.

Why does this verse impact me? Because God is very serious! "It is His decision." The God who has no shadow of turning and who never changes, who when He announces something, says it from the end of that thing, that at one time was a promise, but He says it from the fulfillment. He decided that we would be His. This can bring us rest because, if we are His, He will not let anyone snatch us out of His hand. He decided that we can praise and worship Him with the assurance that He desires that worship (v.6). God decided to give me promises and the fulfillment of them.

We can trust that His plans are real and that He always completes them. I will praise God, and I will receive all the things that He has promised me. He is Faithful.
