God's Hope for Orphans: Every Child Deserves a FamilySýnishorn
As God was painting a picture of what His chosen people would be like, He turned His attention to the future. How would His desires and decrees be passed down to future generations? God did not choose to establish a classroom structure to get the job done; He chose to leverage the structure He created in the beginning—the family!
The family already has all of the developmental elements needed to enable future generations to know God and love Him with all their heart. A healthy family environment is loving, trusting, and available 24 hours a day. Just think of all the quality and quantity time available to pass on the story of God and biblical truths.
The story of God can be passed down while children are sitting around the house on an ordinary day, while the family is together going to the grocery store, when kiddos are getting tucked in at bed time, and while family members are enjoying each other’s presence while eating around the table (verse 7). Countless hours of truth can be intentionally shared, but children unintentionally learn some of life’s most powerful lessons through observing their parents as they live out the realities of faith.
So much more is caught than taught. There is no other institutional structure that could possibly effectively replicate the family! Every child deserves a family to show them what being part of God’s family is all about.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for the gift of family and the role it plays in nurturing faith and passing down your truth. We pray for orphaned and vulnerable children who long for the opportunity to grow up in a loving family, where they can learn about you through both words and actions. Help us to be your hands and feet, ensuring that every child has the chance to experience the love, trust, and care that only a family can provide. In Jesus' name, Amen.
